Wire the reverse into your CMS webhook so every image uploaded from today forward arrives with alt text already on it.
Backfilling a catalogue is a project you do once. Wiring the webhook is the thing that stops the backlog ever coming back, which is worth more than the backfill.
Why this will not look generic: Each line is written from the image that was actually uploaded, at the moment it is uploaded, so it describes that photograph rather than the post it happens to sit in.
Typical run: every image, forever. Rate limited to 60 requests a minute per account, so a bulk import should queue rather than fire in parallel.
Point it at: The single image that was just uploaded to the CMS.
What comes back (representative example): Two fields come back for the image that was just uploaded, not a paragraph. Short alt, sized for the attribute at under a hundred and twenty-five characters: 'Two engineers at a standing desk reviewing a dashboard on a wall-mounted display.' Long description, between a hundred and fifty and two hundred and fifty characters for a caption or a transcript: 'Two people stand at a desk in an open-plan office, both looking toward a large wall-mounted screen showing a line chart. Late afternoon light comes through blinds to the left, striping the floor.' Both describe this photograph. Neither mentions the article it was uploaded for, which is the usual failure of alt text written by whoever wrote the post.
Things you would never have thought to type:
What you change: Nothing. Review and ship. The value is that the ten thousandth one is still about its own image.
